Bible meditations to combat sadness and bring joy

Take time to breathe the Word of our God. Take in a deep breath while reading one line of a verse and slowly exhale the next line of the verse. You can pick and choose the passages that you want to meditate on. You can choose one or more at a time. However, I want to encourage you to do each passage 4 to 5 times.

John 15: 11 – 12

Breathe in: These things I have spoken to you, Breathe out: that my joy may be in you, Breathe in: and that your joy may be full. Breathe out: My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

Psalm 16:11 

Breathe in: You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; Breathe out: at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Romans 12:12 

Breathe in: Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, Breathe out:  be constant in prayer.

Psalm 94:19 

Breathe in: When the cares of my heart are many, Breathe out:  your consolations cheer my soul.

Habakkuk 3:18 

Breathe in: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; Breathe out: I will take joy in the God of my salvation.

Zephaniah 3:17 

Breathe in: The Lord your God is in your midst, Breathe out: a mighty one who will save; Breathe in: he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; Breathe out: he will exult over you with loud singing.

2 Corinthians 7:4 

Breathe in: In all … affliction, Breathe out: I am overflowing with joy.

Romans 12:12 

Breathe in: (I will) Rejoice in hope, and be patient in tribulation, Breathe out:  (I will) be constant in prayer.

Psalm 16:9 

Breathe in: Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; Breath out: my flesh also dwells secure.

Luke 1:47 

Breathe in: My spirit rejoices in God my Savior Breathe out: My spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
